Eloquence is the Golden Globe Awards!
Lover of film couture, the Golden Globes exist as annual highlight!
Kate Hudson, finally giving her mother an aesthetic run for her money, presented a thin, angelic, Lauren Bacall-1940s style by Alexander McQueen. My second favourite ensemble of the evening! Gorgeous.
Heidi Klum, a goddess. Always and forever.
Anne Hathaway, flaunting the daring pixie hair. Only a teeny tiny sprite could do so. Congratulations to Anne on sustained thinness.
Jodie Foster, an inspiration. Body. Mind. And Achievement.
“Normal is not something to aspire to, it is something to escape from.”
Claire Danes. I want to love her pretty image so much, believing that she’s found ‘health’. But, I truly think that she is battling with her weight and eating. I can see it in her eyes, in her body imbalance, and in her big hair, created as such to cover her fat.
Funny is the new fat?
I want to be his girlfriend, if just for an hour. Perhaps a bit shorter. With chin-length hair.
Amy Adamas as a mermaid. So pretty!
The dress? No. The body? Yes.
Classy.
Nicole Kidman’s core is too small for this dress. She does not present vibrance and should stick to Chanel.
Fantastic voice.
My favourite look of the evening! Lea Michele in a white-beaded, glittering, halter gown by Elie Saab. Absolute perfection!
And now I am inspired.
Which was your favourite look at the Golden Globes?

I can’t find a photo but Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey looked so beautiful. Her dress was white with a gold top (I am not doing the dress justice). I still can’t decide if I love or hate Lucy Liu’s dress. There is something sort of magical about it, but then it reminds me of drapery, HA! Either way, her little waist looks phenom.
I love Lucy’s pressed shoulders and lifted chest. It’s apparent that she has a committed yoga practice!
Erika, I found a great photograph of Michelle Dockery. The shoulders are very proper! Something that I’d imagine Princess Diana wearing, if she were alive today. In fact, I can see you wearing that dress!!! We pick the dresses that will look best upon us, no? :D Thank you for sharing your selection!!! Love it. xo
Out of the looks you posted, my favourite is Kate Hudson. So hot and glamourous!
I hadn’t seen Claire Danes in years! It’s weird to see her all grown up. Actually in the photo she makes me think of Geri Haliwell a little (a famous bulimic!)
I’m not too fond of Lea Michelle, she makes me think of Eva Longoria here.
Yes! I’ve never even heard of Lea Michelle before! And I’m too disinterested to learn of what makes her so popular! Thus I have not googled it. But that dress? Wow. And the shoes? Wow. And her pose? Gorgeous. I’d definitely have gone with a proper side ponytail (my default!)… and I’d definitely have stood with a more zestful presence… but the dress, her legs, and her shoes melt me into fashion lava! Claire Danes… My So Called Life. #Love:) xo
Lea Michelle is one of the main actors in Glee. She sings amazingly, but I can’t really stand how she looks, and I’ve never been able to figure out why.
However, I won’t let my dislike for her affect what I think of her dress – simply gorgeous. And yes, the shoes too!
“Claire Danes. I want to love her pretty image so much, believing that she’s found ‘health’. But, I truly think that she is battling with her weight and eating. I can see it in her eyes, in her body imbalance, and in her big hair, created as such to cover her fat.”
Are you kidding??? She had a baby a month ago. Christ.
I didn’t know! Makes perfect sense then! Can’t wait for her to get thin again! :D
I agree about Lucy Liu’s dress, but I loved Nicole Kidman’s dress, actually… and I also don’t think Claire Danes is fat…
Definitely agree. I must change my original analysis! Claire Danes is not “fat” due to laziness and or B/P now that I realise that she was prego.
In fact, I am now happy to know that my mafia skills were dead-on with realising that something was up.
I just didn’t know it was due to pregnancy.
I thought it was due to B/P and or diet stress and associated dissatisfaction with her bod.
You’ve gotta admit that she’s most likely dissatisfied herself. Not a sprite. But getting there, it seems.
It’s hard to pick a single great look – I liked Lea Michele’s, Kate Hudson’s, Julianne Hough’s.
I love Anne Hathaway, and I think she looks adorable in her pixie cut, but this dress does Not flatter her.
Also, I don’t think Claire Danes looks fat!
Birdie,
I most definitely agree on the Anne Hathaway gown comment!!!
I think it resembles a cheapy mcgeapy bridesmaid ensemble by David’s Bridal, rather than a crystalised Chanel masterpiece.
Here’s one from DB that I wore in 2006… Dress, LOL.
Change the colour from pink to white, delete the crystals, add some bulimic fat..
And voila! :D
True, true. And that bridesmaid dress actually looks better ;)
I didn’t watch the Golden Globes, but I admit, I love Lucy Liu’s dress : D
OMG sister I love that you love her dress. You are so uniquely stylish, and we’re gonna have a blast at the David Warhol. xo
Claire Danes looks AMAZING, especially after giving birth less than a month ago..unreal.
I agree!!!!!!!!!
Anne Hathaway, but I’m biased because I love her as an actress, as well as admiring her body. That’s quite rare for me because I find the calibre of actresses today mediocre at best. Many have incredible figures, but seem to only be actresses because they are too short to be models (Kiera Knightly et al). And Anne made me love Catwoman with her performance in The Dark Knight Rises, which I thought was impossible because I absolutely loathe that character.
Nicole Kidman looks absolutely amazing to me and I think her waist must be what? 22 inches? I think she’s incredible.
xxx
OMG.
I need to see The Dark Knight Rises!!!!!!!!!
Regarding Nicole… I want her in Chanel so badly that I’m totally biased against her McQueen dabbling.
And, most importantly, I really freaking love, even more than Nicole in Chanel, that you commented on a fashion post. But clearly, you saw beyond the fashion mask. ;)
I love you! :)
xoxoxo
That was not a review on fashion and design.
That was you posting photos of skinny people (and one fattie) to feed your neurosis.
At least be honest once in a while, Nikki.
What???
When did I declare this as a fashion and design post?
It’s all about body analysis. How isn’t that clear?
LOL!
I totally missed the Golden Globes, but your recap is great and true. I’m with you on your opinions on most of the dresses!
ACTUALLY, I , too, missed the Golden Globes because I was on a DATE with the man of my objectivist ‘dreams’. :D
But I listened to the reviews on the next morning (in the car, on the radio).
I viewed the acceptance speeches on YouTube.
And I analysed every single ‘outfit’ on fashion blogs.
BTW, I still must listen to Joan and Melissa’s review… always my favourite. :)
Thank you for your lovely comment. Love! :) xo
Nicolette:)
Frankly I was disappointed at the dresses this year the golden globes. (I don’t have a TV, but read reviews on a lot of French blogs.) So bored to death by the fishtail dresses and the salmon colored dresses. I feel like it’s the same every single year. I did like Nicole Kidman’s dress. At least it looked different and showed some level of creativity. Also I think that dress was perfect for her silhouette. A dress like that may make someone with more curves, more rounded, due to the optical illusion created by the “cage” on top. This dress did attract me. I did not care for Heidi Klum’s dress. Looked too tight on her, plus I feel like I’ve seen her in dresses like that at every single movie event.
I liked Naomi Watt’s dress and demeanor. The color could have made Naomi look “grandmotherly”, but the classic aspect of it and the quality of it saves the outfit completely. She looks beautiful.
Claire Dane’s dress was very simple and because of that, and also because of the smart draping (which hid Claire’s little bump – she did admit to wearing more than one Spanx pantie) I liked it. A little similar to the dress that Marion Cotillard was wearing. I like it when actresses take risks.
Kate Hudson. Beautiful dress. Beautiful lines. Original at least.
Anne Hathaway. I am really trying to like her, but I just can’t. Something to do with her personality. However the dress was beautiful on her. Yes, it was like a big “letter I” with not much shape, but why not? That is attractive to me too, that sort of tomboy look. Totally me.
Lucy Liu. She is beautiful. The dress was not, to me. Too heavy on her. Maybe the print, not sure. She made me think of a lamp shade just standing there.
I wish women like Gwyneth Paltrow, Rooney Mara, Nathalie Portman, and other actresses who are not afraid to take fashion risks had attended this event. It would have made the fashion commenting more interesting! Maybe everyone will step up their game at the Oscars. :)
Love, lots of!
Francoise
Dear Françoise!
How I love your analysis, let me count the ways!
What I love best is that I imagine a very coldly delivered opinion, from a very compassionate thin French girl.
That aesthetic is GORGEOUS to me. Much prettier than the boring dresses at the Golden Globes. ;)
I recently decided, when reviewing my 20 year life plan, that I want to be a cold, thin, objective woman living in France at the age of 50. And I only hope to deliver analysis of such fashionable things like you have just done!
But what I really want to know now is… which body was your favourite? :) xo
:)
In my opinion Emily Blunt has the nicest shape, and the gold dress she was wearing showcases that fact. (She has a very strong core.) She is an ex ballerina dancer, is lean but still strong. I’ve seen her in jeans too, and she has a really nice shape of legs too. Plus, she is European (British). Great Britain has the most talented actors. No contest.
yay!
Francoise
I agree Francoise…simply love Emily Blunt!!! Wrote my comment, then saw yours :-)
I liked Anne Hathaway, her whole look, not the dress in particular. I actually really liked Taylor Swift from the back and side, not the front, lol…her dress and figure looked great bit front on looked a bit weird and ill fitting.
I adore Emily Blunt, her personality, her wit..love her and loved her Golden Globe look, dress, body, hair, earrings, she was probably my fav.
xo
Emily Blunt looks like you, and you’d be fabulous in that dress!!!!!!!!!
Anne Hathaway is adorable with that hair cut! I am loving her lately. That last dress is simply gorgeous.
Okay, what does, “Lover of film couture, the Golden Globes exist as annual highlight” even mean? It sounds like Engrish.
I know, it bothers me, too. Makes no sense.
Lover of film couture was supposed to modify me, but I failed to mention me.
So you’re right on that one!
Congrats!
How the hell does Nicole – and not one poster acknowledge the magnificent Jessica Chastain? She only won the (women’s) most prestigious award of the night!
She is the total package. Radiant. Versatile. Superior.
Mark it down now – she is the next Meryl Streep! :)
